Anchimolgus gratus n. sp. (Copepoda: Poecilostomatoida: Anchimolgidae), associated with the scleractinian coral Lithactinia novaehiberniae in New Caledonia Naturalis
Humes, Arthur G..
Anchimolgus gratus n. sp., associated with the fungiid coral Lithactinia novaehiberniae Lesson, 1831 in New Caledonia, is distinguished from its congeners (except A. pandus Humes, 1978) by the formula III,I,5 on the third segment of the exopod of leg 4. The new species differs from A. pandus which is much smaller and in which the female genital double-somite is as long as wide.

Carbon and Nitrogen Acquisition in Shallow and Deep Holobionts of the Scleractinian Coral S. pistillata ArchiMer
Ezzat, Leila; Fine, Maoz; Maguer, Jean-francois; Grover, Renaud; Ferrier-pages, Christine.
Reef building corals can host different symbiont genotypes (clades), and form distinct holobionts in response to environmental changes. Studies on the functional significance of genetically different symbionts have focused on the thermal tolerance rather than on the nutritional significance. Here, we characterized the nitrogen and carbon assimilation rates, the allocation patterns of these nutrients within the symbiosis, and the trophic condition of two distinct holobionts of Stylophora pistillata: one associated with Symbiodinium Glade A in shallow reefs and the other one associated with Glade C in mesophotic reefs. The main findings are that: (1) Glade C-symbionts have a competitive advantage for the acquisition of carbon at low irradiance compared to...

The name game: morpho-molecular species boundaries in the genus Psammocora (Cnidaria, Scleractinia) ArchiMer
Benzoni, Francesca; Stefani, Fabrizio; Pichon, Michel; Galli, Paolo.
The morphometric and molecular boundaries between twelve Psammocora (Cnidaria, Scleractinia) nominal species were addressed. The type specimens of Psammocora haimiana Milne Edwards & Haime, 1851, P. togianensis Umbgrove, 1940, P. folium Umbgrove, 1939, P. digitata Milne Edwards & Haime, 1851, Maeandroseris australiae Rousseau, 1854, P. samoensis Hoffmeister, 1925, P. superficialis Gardiner, 1898, P. profundacella Gardiner, 1898, P. nierstraszi Van der Horst, 1921, P. verrilli Vaughan, 1907, and P. albopicta Benzoni, 2006, were analysed together with specimens from museum collections, including those depicted in widely cited taxonomic descriptions, and material collected for this study in different parts of the Indo-Pacific. Morphometric analyses of...
